How to Hire an IHSS Provider

Before you can be enrolled and receive payment as an IHSS Program Provider there are several things you must do.

You must complete an enrollment packet and return it in person to the IHSS lobby located at Suite 143, 6955 Foothill Blvd, Oakland, CA 94605.

Bring a U.S. government issued picture ID and an original social security card, be finger printed, and go through a criminal background check by the California Department of Justice.

Do not try to be fingerprinted until you have received instructions from the county.

Attend an IHSS Program provider orientation and sign an IHSS Program Provider Enrollment Agreement which will be given out after the orientation.

Orientation classes are held daily. Non-English orientation classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For language specific Orientation dates and times please go to our website at www.alamedasocialservices.org or contact our IHSS call center at (510) 577-1800.
You only need to attend one (1) session.
